Buy loose oolong tea: Full flavor in whole leaves
Welcome to the premier class of tea enjoyment. True oolong needs space to unfold its magic and is therefore never hidden in tight tea bags. Only whole leaves can preserve the complex essential oils and fine structure that give it its full aroma.
At Arteamony, we offer quality for connoisseurs who don't want to compromise. Here you can conveniently buy loose oolong tea online and experience the difference that an intact leaf makes.
Why loose oolong? The secret of rolled leaves
Have you ever wondered why high-quality oolong tea often has such a strange shape? The leaves are artfully processed. Light varieties are usually rolled into small, firm balls, while dark rock teas are often twisted into elongated, wiry shapes. There would be no room for this artistry in a flat tea bag.
There, you will usually only find broken leaves or tea dust. The great advantage of loose oolong is its endurance. The tightly rolled leaves open slowly and release their flavor gradually. This allows for multiple infusions.
You can often infuse the same leaves five to seven times. With each infusion, you will discover new flavors – from the initial light sweetness to the deep spiciness. This makes loose oolong not only a pleasure to drink, but also surprisingly economical.
Our range: classics from Fujian and rarities from Taiwan
We take you on a journey to the origins. Our collection includes loose tea from China and Taiwan, which represent the two most important regions for this variety. Depending on the origin, you can expect a unique experience:
- China (Fujian & Hunan): This is where the real legends are born. For lovers of deep, mineral notes, we recommend Da Hong Pao “Lan Hua” from Fujian. Those who prefer a floral and fresh taste should definitely try the light oolong “Tie Guan Yin” from Hunan.
- Taiwan: The island is known for its innovative varieties and highland teas. A highlight for those who like it mild is our milk oolong “Nai Xian” from Hunan. It impresses with a natural, creamy sweetness reminiscent of caramel.
This selection offers you the whole range – from the freshness of spring blossoms to the warm roasted notes of autumn.
Preparing loose leaves: A visual experience
Preparing loose tea is more than just boiling water – it's a little spectacle. It's best to put the leaves in a glass jar or a traditional gaiwan. Watch how the firm balls slowly unfold in the water and become huge, intact leaves.
For this spectacle to succeed, the leaves need space. If you prefer the Western method, we have suitable teapots that offer enough space. For authentic enjoyment on the go, we recommend our travel tea set with gaiwan and 3 cups (green).
When brewing, make sure the water temperature is correct:
- Dark varieties (such as Da Hong Pao) can withstand almost boiling water (approx. 95–100°C).
- Light oolongs (such as Tie Guan Yin) prefer a slightly gentler temperature of 85–90°C.
