A timeless recipe from one of Yunnan’s most respected factories

A Legacy in Every Leaf

Crafted by the renowned Haiwan Tea Factory, the “Old Comrade 9978” is a true representation of traditional Shu Pu-erh mastery. This 357g pressed cake is made from carefully selected, uniform leaves rich in buds — a mark of quality and aging potential.

Originally developed to showcase balance and purity, the 9978 recipe delivers a cup that feels noble, grounding, and clean on the palate.

Tasting Experience

  • Flavor Notes:
Toasted nuts, aged wood, light earthiness

  • Texture: Smooth, full-bodied, mellow

  • Infusion Color: Deep cognac hue — rich and warm

  • Aroma: Subtle minerality with a hint of forest floor

It’s a tea that invites reflection and clarity — a perfect choice for moments of focus or post-meal calm.

Effect

This Shu Pu-erh provides a noticeable toning and energizing effect without any sharp spikes. Ideal for focused work sessions, late afternoons, or as a grounding alternative to coffee.

How to Brew

  1. Break off ~5g per 150–200 ml of water

  2. Rinse once quickly with boiling water (to awaken the leaves)

  3. Steep at 95–100°C (203–212°F) for 20–30 seconds

  4. Repeat and extend infusion times — great for 6+ steeps

Best enjoyed in a gaiwan or Yixing teapot for a slow, layered session.
